SUBJECT: More Information on How to configure a Removable Media
Device under DOS Operating System (see tech tip TTSCSI.047 for additional
information)
"REMOVABLE HARD DISK CACHING" EISA Configuration Option
or
"REMOVABLE HD CACHE ENABLE" Switch option (SW2 - 4)
This option should be [ENABLED] ONLY when the removable media will NOT be
exchanged/swapped during the BOOT cycle.
However, if for some reason the option must be [ENABLED] and the cartridge must
also be exchanged/swapped, there is a workaround using the DOS "FLUSH.EXE"
Cache Flushing utility supplied with your Fast Disk SCSI Controller on
Diskette#1 (\DOS\FLUSH.EXE).
Use the following three steps:
1. At the DOS prompt, key in the command
flush n
to flush and disable the cache of the card in slot n.
2. Swap/exchange the cartridge.
3. Key in the command
flush n -e
to flush and re-enable the cache of the card in slot n.
